What Parent Portal does

Parent Portal is a family dashboard that connects to your calendars and your children's school systems to give you a single view of schedules, grades, and assignments. We currently support Canvas LMS, Schoology, and Google Classroom. We also generate AI-powered summaries and let you ask questions about your family's week through a built-in assistant.

Who uses Parent Portal

Parent Portal is designed for parents, guardians, and caregivers. Children do not create accounts or interact with the service directly. All accounts belong to adults who choose to connect their family's data sources.

What we collect

• Account info: Your name and email address from Google sign-in. We do not store your Google password.
• Calendar events: Event titles, times, locations, and descriptions from Google Calendar and iCal feeds you connect.
• Academic data: Course names, grades, assignment titles, scores, and due dates from academic systems you connect (Canvas LMS, Schoology, or Google Classroom).
• Family structure: Children's names, schools, and the relationships between family members you configure.
• Chat history: Questions you ask the AI assistant and the responses it generates.

What we do not collect

• We do not track your browsing activity outside of Parent Portal.
• We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.
• We do not access anything beyond the specific calendar and grade data you authorize.

How we use your data

• Display your family's schedules, grades, and assignments in the dashboard.
• Detect scheduling conflicts between your children's events.
• Generate AI-powered summaries of your family's week.
• Answer questions through the AI assistant using your family's data as context.
• Send email reports on the schedule you configure.

All data syncing is read-only. Parent Portal does not modify your calendars, submit assignments, or change grades.

How we store your data

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase (cloud infrastructure in the United States). API credentials for connected services are encrypted. The application is served over HTTPS via Vercel.

Who can see your data

Only the family members you invite can see your family's data. You control who has access and what they can see through role-based permissions (Owner, Editor, Viewer) and scope controls (schedule only, academics only, or both).

Parent Portal staff may access data only to diagnose technical issues you report. We do not browse user data for any other reason.

Third-party services

• Google OAuth: Used for sign-in, calendar access, and Google Classroom access. See Google's privacy policy.
• Schoology (PowerSchool): Academic data sync for schools using Schoology. See PowerSchool's privacy policy.
• Anthropic: Powers the AI assistant and weekly summaries. Your family's data is sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Supabase: Database hosting. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Vercel: Application hosting. See Vercel's privacy policy.
• Resend: Sends email reports. See Resend's privacy policy.

Data retention

Your data is kept as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all associated family data, chat history, and connected service credentials. Backups are purged within 30 days.

Your rights

You can:

• Disconnect any data source at any time from Settings.
• Remove family members or children from your account.
• Request a copy of your data by emailing us.
• Delete your account entirely, which removes all your data.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and note the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also notify you by email.
